Wayne Brady to Star in Broadway Revival of 'The Wiz'

Wayne Brady is returning to Broadway!

On Wednesday (June 7), the 51-year-old entertainer announced that he will be starring in the upcoming revival of the Tony-winning musical The Wiz when it returns to New York City next spring.

Wayne will be playing the titular role of The Wiz in the beloved Black-led spin on The Wizard of Oz.

"So you wanted to meet The Wizard? Well, you've come to right place because I'm coming back to BROADWAY!!! As The Wiz!" Wayne shared on Instagram.

The limited Broadway run will follow a national tour beginning this September in Baltimore with Alan Mingo Jr. playing the The Wiz.

Before the revival arrives on Broadway in spring 2024, Wayne will be playing The Wiz in San Francisco from January 16 through February 11 and in Los Angeles from February 13 through March 3.

Over the years, Wayne has starred in a few Broadway shows including Chicago and Kinky Boots.

The revival of The Wiz was first announced in December 2022.

The 2023 Tony Awards will be taking this place this Sunday, June 11, on CBS on June 11 with Ariana DeBose as the host for the second year in a row. Check out the full list of nominations!
